Artist Talk With Nicola Stephanie In-Person
Join local artist Nicola Stephanie for an informative look into her practice.
Nicola Stephanie is a British artist currently based in New York. She works with painting, drawing, sculpture and video. Her work is rooted in observations of mutability, permeability and transformation, with a particular interest in relationships between the body and aspects of material culture, such as clothing. Her work reflects gendered experiences of transformation and builds upon histories of representation in feminist image-making practices.
A recent graduate of the MFA program at Hunter College (2019), Stephanie has also studied at the New York Studio School and Goldsmiths College, London. She has previously shown her work at the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Freud Museum, the Yale Center for British Art, and has completed commissions for Tate Modern. She was born in Epsom, England and currently lives and works in New York.
