Women's History Month Concert with Hot Wrk Ensemble In-Person
Hudson Valley-based saxophone/woodwind and percussion trio, Hot Wrk Ensemble, presents an afternoon of eclectic “chamber music grooves” in honor of Women’s History Month. The program features works by female composers including "There but for the Grace" with recorded dialogue by Michelle Obama and composed by Lois Hicks-Wozniak; a piece inspired by NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson; works by Olivia Kiefer and Cathy Likuta, as well as arrangements of Medieval dances, The Beatles, Barbara Strozzi and Dolly Parton.
Hot Wrk Ensemble is an interactive experience with a mission of accessibility that breaks the 4th wall and invites audiences to engage during the concert - through the idea that community and music is created by contributing and sharing thoughts and ideas, asking questions, and listening. Hot Wrk Ensemble believes chamber music can be a voice for change by enacting community to interact with and partake in the creation and storytelling process.
