History House: Making in Scale with Dan Daly In-Person
History House is for all ages - children under 10 must be joined by a responsible adult. In this workshop we will learn about the tools and materials used to make your very own small, dollhouse style objects by hand. We will gain experience using scale rulers, exacto-style knives, glue, and colored pencils to tell stories through miniature objects. You will leave this workshop with one or two scale furniture pieces and the knowledge of how to make small things yourself! This workshop will be led by Dan Daly of Dan Daly Design.
Registration is required for this workshop. To adopt a dollhouse as part of History House, or to ask questions, email Kristen at kthornton-destafeno@rcls.org or call 845-563-3650.
This series is a partnership between the Newburgh Free Library and the Historical Society of Newburgh Bay & the Highlands.
What is History House?
Adopt a dollhouse kit and attend workshops to learn how to build and decorate a miniature home inspired by the historic architecture of Newburgh. Anyone can attend the workshop, though those who are adopting dollhouse kits are encouraged to attend to help provide tips and inspiration for completing and decorating each dollhouse.
Completed houses will be on display as part of an Archtober Newburgh Exhibit prior to being auctioned off as a library fundraiser.
This series is open to families of all ages and adults - children under 10 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
