History House: What's That Called? Architectural Features & Forms of Newburgh In-Person
Local History Librarian Matthew Thorenz will provide a survey of historic architectural styles and features found in buildings in and around Newburgh and New Windsor. Learn what puts the "Goth" in "Gothic Revival" and see how building styles and fashions reflected the people and times in which these historic homes were designed and built.
Registration is required for this workshop. Please note that you will not be building a dollhouse at this workshop. To adopt a dollhouse as part of History House, or to ask questions, email Kristen at kthornton-destafeno@rcls.org or call 845-563-3650.
This series is a partnership between the Newburgh Free Library and the Historical Society of Newburgh Bay & the Highlands.
What is History House?
Adopt a dollhouse kit and attend workshops to learn how to build and decorate a miniature home inspired by the historic architecture of Newburgh. Anyone can attend the workshop, though those who are adopting dollhouse kits are encouraged to attend to help provide tips and inspiration for completing and decorating each dollhouse.
Completed houses will be on display as part of an Archtober Newburgh Exhibit prior to being auctioned off as a library fundraiser.
This series is open to families of all ages and adults - children under 10 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
