Gyotaku: Japanese Fish Printing

Gyotaku: Japanese Fish Printing In-Person

Gyotaku is a traditional form of Japanese art that began over 100 years ago as a way for fishermen to keep a record of the fish they caught. By inking the fish directly and applying rice paper, an impression was taken to scale. Today it is a great way to study the form of the fish as an object of beauty. Join us as we participate in this tradition, and take home an impression from one of four life-like facsimiles of different fish species.
